The fusion splicer uses an image processing system to observe the optical fiber. If the microscope lens becomes dirty, it will affect the normal optical fiber observation, resulting in poor splicing effect. Therefore, the lenses of the two microscopes should be cleaned regularly to keep the microscope heads tidy.

The specific process is as follows:

(1) Turn off the power of the fusion splicer and open the windproof cover. (2) Gently wipe the lens of the microscope with a fine cotton swab dipped in alcohol. (3) Then wipe off the remaining alcohol with a clean dry cotton swab, observe the microscope lens, and confirm that it is clean and free of contaminants. (4) Turn on the power and observe whether there is dust on the displayed image. If dust still exists, clean the microscope again.

Note: Do not touch the electrodes when cleaning, and do not touch the lens with hard objects. Cleaning the V-groove If there are contaminants in the V-groove, the fiber image will deviate from the normal position, resulting in abnormal alignment and large splice loss. Therefore, the V-groove should be checked and cleaned regularly. The specific process is as follows:

(1) Open the windproof cover of the fusion splicer. (2) Clean the contaminants on the V-shaped groove with the supplied dust blower. (3) Clean the bottom of the V-shaped groove with a fine cotton swab dipped in alcohol.

Note: Do not touch the electrode tip. Do not use excessive force when cleaning, and do not use hard objects (such as blades) to clean the V-shaped groove to avoid damage to the V-shaped groove and cause abnormal use. The surface of the electrode will adhere to impurities due to long-term use, which will affect the discharge effect, so the electrode needs to be cleaned regularly.

The specific operation is as follows: (1) Long press the power button to shut down, the power indicator light is off. (2) Gently wipe the tip of the electrode with a thin cotton swab dipped in alcohol. (3) Press the power button to turn on the splicer, and the power indicator light is on. (4) Select [Clean Electrode] in the [Equipment Maintenance] menu. (5) Press the start button, the fusion splicer will automatically discharge 5 times, and use a large discharge current to vaporize the impurities on the electrode surface to achieve a stable discharge current and clean the electrode. Note: In the process of cleaning the electrode, do not touch the tip of the electrode with a hard object to avoid damage to the electrode and affect the welding effect.
