Product packaging has become an art in itself. Not only the innovations in terms of sustainable materials and the increasing care in designing the most attractive have improved packaging performance but also the advances in packaging machines have made it easier, cheaper and faster to place products in the ideal wrap. Effective packaging should flawlessly maintain the product in optimal state, be coherent with the product and improve it in some way for example, making it easier to consume.

However, not all changes have been positive since in attempting to differentiate themselves from competitors many companies have taken on extravagant and often impractical packaging models. This can cause "wrap rage" in customers, not hardly able to open or even use the product and who are sure not to buy it ever again. This is especially true for seniors, who need packages than open easily with not much strength and big type in the description information and for children, who need resistant but harmless products easy to manage in their hands and their mothers' and at the same time need to be protected from products that could be dangerous for them.

The current way of life also calls for smaller and more practical packaging oriented, for example, to on-the-go food. In this case, flat bag packages that have traditionally been used for food have evolved into various kinds of small dimension pillow bags, more practical for eating while walking or on the streets.

Wide band flat bags are one of the more frequent packages for snacks, produced with an oval forming set to reduce wrinkles on packages. The shape of the filling equipment used for packaging is one key determinant of how the wrapping may be handled and of the final result, that is ideally neat, can endure transportation and changes in temperatures and arrive at the shelves as good as new.

Packaging resulting from rectangular forming sets that have a square bottom and close on creased corners up in a triangular prism are ideal for liquids specially for single portion containers of dairy products that need robust temperature protection.

Doy packs are the choice for better preserving products in an hermetic atmosphere. They are often used to store sauces and liquids that need to be closed tightly for conservation once opened, and lately have appeared in supermarket shelves holding juices and drinks for kids.

Cardboard boxes are still the winner in many industries both for its lower costs and its efficiency when combined with other protection accessories. In the toys market, for example, a vast majority of packages consist of a cardboard box decorated and painted in loud colors with a picture of the toy or a cardboard structure with a transparent plastic lid allowing to see the content of the box, securely positioned and fixed by plastic wires. This kind of packaging is considered the best for toys since being able to see the content and real dimensions of the toy inspires trust on parents and attracts kids as the amusement seems right at hand reach.
