For a <a href="https://www.atechpcb.com/single-sided-pcb" target="_blank">single-sided PCB, the component is on one side and the wires are on the other side. The single-sided PCB is the simplest and most basic PCB.

With the advent of electronic transistors, single-sided PCBs were developed in early 1950 and were mainly manufactured in the United States. At that time, single-sided PCBs were manufactured directly by copper etching. Between 1953 and 1955, Japan used imported copper to make paper phenolic copper-based paper, mainly used in radio products. In 1956, with the emergence of professional PCB manufacturers from Japan, single-sided PCB technology has made great progress. In the early days, paper phenolic was mainly used for copper substrates, but due to paper phenolic's low electrical insulation, poor solder thermal stability, and distortion problems, paper epoxy and glass fiber epoxy resins were quickly developed. Currently, paper epoxy resins are widely used in consumer electronics.

Basically, there is no challenge for PCB manufacturers to produce single-sided PCBs, and now the technology is quite mature. The main focus of PCB manufacturers is how to control production costs and save customers more costs.

A-TECH circuits can provide a large number of single-sided PCBs at a relatively low price. The raw materials for manufacturing single-sided PCBs include FR1, CEM1, CEM3 and FR4.
