Is this a good deal for an engagement ring?

Very overpriced! If it were a perfect diamond, maybe. But it is not even close to a colorless diamond, or a flawless diamond. I have a ring that has a main stone of 1.14 carat, VSI 1, G color that was appraised by an independent jeweler for just under 5k.

------

Do you think this is a pretty engagement ring?

I think the ring is pretty but it doest liik like an engagement ring, just a ring!

------

Could this be considered an engagement ring?

an engagement ring can be any kind of ring, but is traditionally a solid band with some sort of stone setting. I would not consider that ring to be an engagement ring, but if it helps, I also do not think it looks cheap

------

HOW TO FIND A GOOD ENGAGEMENT RING?

Promise rings at the instant are not the comparable as engagement rings. A promise ring is a hoop promising to stay real to a minimum of one yet another. there remains no promise of marrying with a promise ring. an engagement ring is a hoop that symbolized that the two people comply with get married and plan a marriage in the close to destiny

------

Does this look like an engagement ring?!?

i think it doesnt look like an engagement ring, maybe a wedding band. Just wear it on your right hand. Or have it fit to a different finger. It can be a promise ring!

------

How to pick an engagement ring?

The standard size is a 7. I am a 6.75 which is really precise. Just get a size 7 and if it does not fit (it will most likely fit) she can get it resized from the same shop sometimes for free but usually only a small fee. Now does she wear any jewelry? Gold, white gold, silver? which ever color she wears the most, get the ring in that color. A diamond is a safe gem choice. Or her birth stone (I HATE my birthstone just so you know that is not always a good idea). And well I would say either diamonds or her favorite color. I love purple my engagement ring is a purple heart with two pink gems one on each side of the heart. But I picked it out since I knew we were getting engaged. Everything is mutual, we have been together 6 years. =) Good Luck and Congrats!

------

Is this an engagement ring? im Confused?

What makes a ring an engagement ring is the fact that it's offered in conjunction with a proposal of marriage. There is no set way an engagement has to look like. Any ring can be used as an engagement ring.

------

Am I being cheap with respect to engagement ring?

If you are feeling reluctant about purchasing an engagement ring examine your feelings on why. You are proposing to this woman, meaning that you want her to be in your life for the rest of your life. That's a big commitment and not one that you want to make lightly. Wait until you feel ready. There could be a reason why you are having problems making the ring happen.

------

Need help choosing a wedding/ engagement ring?

The first one looks like my wedding band. I think an engagement ring should stand out more. The second one is more appropriate for an engagement ring, but I do not like it (however, I do not have to wear it). The two together would make a good set.

------

What is the rule of thumb for the price of an engagement ring?

The jewelry stores might try to con you into spending up to 2 months take home pay, but the trend is to make it closer to two weeks take home pay. You do not want a ring that's so big and gaudy that it makes the bride a target for robbery. A friend of mine works in an upscale jewelry store. She says about half of the couples that come in for an engagement ring decide to buy a less costly synthetic stone. They use the money they saved to pay off debt or towards the down payment on a house. That makes a lot more sense than spending it on jewelry. The synthetics are so good that even an experienced jeweler cannot tell the difference without a gem scope. She says:"Only fools buy real diamonds any more". Whatever you decide on, whether it be a natural diamond or a synthetic, set a budget and stick to it. The more you spend on the ring, the less money you have available to spend on other things like a house. Engagement rings generally have a huge mark up. Do not be afraid to haggle over the price, even at a large chain store. If they do not give you a bargain, be prepared to walk out and shop elsewhere, including online.
