I am not sure what I would consider an ideal weight, but just to give you an idea of what I mean, here's the experience that showed me that a diamond can cross the line of tasteful if it's too big: I worked in a job dealing with the public at a cosmetic store. One day a girl came in and she had on what I thought was a cocktail ring from a store like Claire's. I was working with her and she asked me for some hand sanitizer and told me that she wanted to take her ring off because when the alcohol gets under it, her skin gets dry, but she does not take it off unless she's home because she's so paranoid about losing it. I told her it was a nice ring and she said that she did not understand why her fiance bought her a 3 carat ring and that she felt it really was not necessary and felt bad about it but he was so excited about it. My eyes almost fell out of my head. Going too big can end up making it look like you are wearing a fashion ring, I would never in a million years have assumed that what she was wearing was an engagement ring. Big bling like that generally is either too expensive for most of us to afford or sold in accessory stores.

------

Could this be considered an engagement ring?

Anything can be considered an engagement ring. You do not have to go the traditional diamond ring route if you do not want to. All that matters is that you like the ring.

------

Walmart engagement rings... Are they okay to buy?

I put an engagement ring on lay away for my fianc today. It's beautiful, but no one was available to give me any clarity I information. The ring was pricy, but lovely. My fianc loves the ring

------

should we buy an engagement ring in Turkey?

This Site Might Help You. RE: should we buy an engagement ring in Turkey? hi My boyfriend and I are planning on getting engaged this year but the price of engagement rings is crazy, we would not be able to get a good ring for less than 5000! We are going to Turkey this year and we heard that it has great value for jewellery?? Does anyone have any experience with...

------

What do you think of this as an engagement ring?

Ummm, you realize that it's a fake stone, right? So, I would not give this to someone as an engagement ring as they might be very disappointed

------

Do i get a promise, or engagement ring?

Promise rings are juvenile. Get her a great pair of diamond earrings, or a tennis bracelet. an engagement ring is a really loaded gift - it means you are ready to set a wedding date. If that's not the point you are at, you should definitely not give her an engagement ring.

------

Which engagement ring is better?

The one in your link is lovely - and smaller but better quality is the way to go. You have good taste in liking a round brilliant stone!

------

Is this a nice engagement ring? Or does it look like a ring for something else?

It's beautiful in my opinion. Looks like an engagement ring to me

------

How much should he spend on an engagement ring?

you should ask him what his budget is. there used to be a saying that it was something like 3 months salary, but I personally think that in this economy that is too much to ask. that is an ok price for an engagement ring but it really depends on your area. where I live that is kind of on the higher end of things, but in a larger city that may be a great price for the ring, its all about location. I think my fianc spent $200 on mine after tax and shipping and I love it! it's a gemstone ring and we are planning on putting a diamond in it for the wedding instead of getting a wedding band (wearing 2 rings bugs me lol) and the stone that's in it now is going to be set in a plain band for our (hypothetical) kids one day
